Building a Community at Make Huyton Village
I am part of a new community for businesses in the centre of the High Street, and we are attracting a lot of interest already from inventors, comms and PR people, photographers. And, in echoes of the old biscuit company, we even have a scouse sweets business.
I was one of the first to move in, publishing our book 50 Ideas for the North and building a communications consultancy from right here in Huyton.
But the bigger picture is how we are coming together to create something new and exciting for the high street. Huyton deserves more.
I remember coming here as a kid and it being a bustling busy place. But now, it needs some real love and attention. But it also needs a new plan.
The Council’s exciting new vision revolves around places like Make, located in the old Boots. But we need more places that bring people back to the former retail units on our high streets – it doesn’t have to be for shopping. We need working spaces, places to learn new skills or create new inventions or pieces of art.
That’s what we are building here.
